According to a document released by the Shanghai municipal government on February 24, the goal of China's mega city Shanghai is to establish a charging network that can meet the charging needs of 1.25 million electric vehicles by 2025, when the ratio of electric vehicles to charging piles will not exceed 2:1.
In order to achieve this goal, the Shanghai municipal government will formulate special plans for the development of electric vehicle charging and battery exchange facilities, public service institutions and special vehicles according to the layout of urban parking lots, the goal of digital transformation of the transportation industry, and the charging and battery exchange needs of key areas such as residential areas.
By the end of 2021, Shanghai had more than 620000 electric vehicles (NEVs) running on the road, and the highest ranked city in China was publicly disclosed according to the data. As of December 2021, the total number of charging piles in the city has reached 500000, and the ratio of electric vehicles to charging piles is about 1.3:1.
